Challenge

Create a never-before-seen flower field consisting of over 200,000 Dutch tulips in Union Square, NYC. Help The Netherlands promote the tulip industry and give back to the city of New York in a fun, interactive way.

Approach

While we prepared for over five months for the one-day pop up event, New York City gave us the green light just 2 weeks before the actual event date. We learned how to work with a team consisting of a Netherlands-based tulip growers organization, two major US-based tulip growers, the Dutch Consulate, the City of New York, and an army of volunteers. To pull this off in under 14 days, many influencers and the Press were enlisted. Results: The free tickets were sold out in under 20 hours. Almost 30,000 New Yorkers showed up. Press coverage included CNN, 1010 News, CBS, FOX, NBC, NY1, PIX11, The New York Post, Time Out, Martha Stewart, The New York Times, and MSNBC.
